Entertainment in my life

Entertainment in my life

So it’s been a while since I can actually sit down, or go out to watch a movie or show. But this past weekend, I’ve done a lot to relax. Quite ironic….

This weekend, I saw 1 movie in the theaters, 1 movie that I downloaded, and a few episodes of a Chinese Drama that was recommended to me. I’ll do some reviews on how this weekend went.

Karate Kid

Karate Kid

Not really a lengthy review but just watched the new Karate Kid, starring Jadett Smith and Jackie Chan, that came out in theaters recently, and I have to say they did a good job with it. It was probably one of the only movies I didn’t go to watch just because it had Jackie Chan in it. More so, it was probably the retro feeling of the movie “Karate Kid“. It’s almost becoming one of the best movies I’ve watched in theaters in a long time. It had the martial arts which I’m always a fan of, it had a story of the main character progressing from nothing into something, it had clips of showing that progression through training, it had a slight romance (although kind of awkward with the age range), and finally it had a great sense of environment being based in China.

I would recommend the movie to anyone that are still on the edge thinking of whether to watch it or not. It’s definitely worth the 7 dollars at the theaters unlike most movies. If I had to go to see it again, I probably would. (Although, I would try to save money first)

The Human Centipede

Human Centipede

Okay, now, I have no clue how this movie came to be made. It was a weird concept, and the most upsetting thing was….it felt like you watched nothing. It wasn’t really scary, there isn’t no horror behind it, and there was no real ending to it. I remember seeing a trailer of this a long time ago, and I thought it was interesting. And then my friend mentioned the name again, and it just rang a bell in my mind to see if it was good or not.

Other than being disgusting, this movie has nothing else to it, although it might give you some laughs and grossed out factor.

Schemes of Beauty

Schemes of Beauty

Still ongoing in terms of the english subs, but these are the kind of dramas that I’ve started to watch that really blows any drama that I’ve watched whether American, Korean, Japanese, etc.. Chinese dramas that are set in the dynasty age has so much to them–drama, revenge, love story, comedy, plot twists, etc… I was introduced to this genre by Vtension and her recommendations are always good. These drama also just reminds me of ones my parents would watch every evening for dinner, and although I couldn’t understand them when I was young, at least now I can appreciate the time setting and how the acting is.

A lot of times, people would be turned off a lot by the time setting of a drama, or the type of drama it is. For those that are interested in foreign dramas, check out this one. I’m only on episode 6, and it’s one of those shows where you don’t want to stop, but you have to in order to do some work.

That wraps the Weekend

That was my weekend. Other than working on a friend’s portfolio, and my framework, nothing much happened. This week will be work week, I hope. I plan on coming out with a theme, having a 3D Tutorial on every Friday, and just reorganizing my blog posts in terms of scheduling. Keep in touch, and keep updated by subscribing.
