I know, the thumbnail picture isn’t me or resemble me in any way. I just happened to browse upon it while looking at AllKpop (usually my source for any new music, performance, or funny clips of celebrities) and I thought to myself, I wish I can sleep peacefully like that.
I’m not sure when was the last time I can say I had an actual “break“. Sure I rested, sure I go to sleep, and sure there are moments where I do nothing, but regardless of those free time, I can never stop thinking about what I have to do, what needs to be done next, and whether or not I should eat or skip it.
I don’t know if it’s bad to be a “work-a-holic” yet don’t even show it. I always think about work, my future sites, my future direction with my blog, and my projects, but it just doesn’t seem like I do anything. Like, initially I was supposed to have a portfolio on this site since I deleted it by accident. And now I just have a new blog design, and still haven’t made a portfolio section….yeah, such irony. Well, at least I’m using the blog and not leaving it behind on posts here and there.
Current State of Mind
It’s like you’re so close to something, and then looking at it again, you’re not? I’m having that feeling at the moment. I just released my Ares Wordpress Theme, and after that I need to upgrade the admin and get a page template, and I’ll be done with my frameworks. From there I can hopefully find/make some good templates to code and then it’s on my way to Theme Forest to try to sell these. However, as the saying goes, (well, I’m not sure if it’s an actual saying) “The more you look at it, the less things get done”.
On another note, I’m working on turning wordpress to a site like iStockPhoto and other similar sites with my teacher. It’s getting there, but still a lot of functionality behind it to do. However, I’m greatly appreciating the use of plugins, so that decreases the production time by a lot. Although the key thing to running a site is to not think about money…I just really hope it’s successful to that point so I can rake some residual income. (However, Murphy’s Law is going to tell me that it’s not going to work well in the future)
Hating what you do, but like it too?
It seems like the more and more I code for clients, the less I like to do it. However, I have lots of fun if I’m coding for my own projects and self learning. Is that weird? To hate something if you do it for others, but like it if you do it for yourself. Hmm…weird thought.
And so, this is just an update for myself. Everything is slowly coming together. I’m hoping to get this new theme framework out by next month, and from there, I’ll be ready to make some great looking wordpress themes with changeable options. Any designers/coders that want to help out, just contact me. (Looking for people that like to do this for fun. Obviously money may be potentially there, but dedicated people that like to code/design for the sake of it is more than welcomed.)

Ever wanted to know how options are implemented with Wordpress? Through lots of tutorials, I’ve finally been able to make a theme that had some options in the backend to make it easy for users/clients to change up colors, the width of the site, link colors, and simple things like that.
Ares Framework brings you the simple theme but with a Theme Options Page for the Wordpress admin. (Download link at the bottom)

As you may have noticed, one of the things I’ve cut from the menu was a Downloads section. It’s now a category, and I have a little sidebar on the widget that will show the latest downloads so just a heads up for future downloads. All downloads will be in resources, so if you need to find them, you can simply go to Resources navigation.
Here’s a quick business card template for those that need a template with all the guides (For Photoshop).
So as times go by, and I began adding more domains and subdomains to my hosting, I’ve come to the conclusion that it was getting crowded. I deleted over half of my subdomains that I wasn’t using since they were used mainly for client use, and my root folder was getting messy. Naturally I didn’t care about that until the last 2 hours when I suddenly got irked by it, so I researched on how to move wordpress to it’s own directory, and I’ll give you a review of the process step by step instead of you having to read through some mess.

One of the most mysterious phenomenon that I’ve always encountered is “Procrastination“. No matter who you are, everyone falls for this disease. You want to do something or you have to do something, but in the end you will opt to do something else that’s probably not related at all. (i.e Watching a show when you’re supposed to do homework, or sleeping when you’re supposed to do a client job).
For me, it’s quite a different story….actually not really. I just like to think I’m doing another productive thing over another but in reality, it’s the same. I always procrastinate my work, and I have no idea why. Sometimes, doing work after work doesn’t appeal to me so I need that short break to watch a video, listen to some music, eat something, or browse the internet.

Parkinson’s Law states:
Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion.
One of the key points to procrastination I would say. If you have a paper, you’d definitely won’t finish until the last day. If you have client work, then you won’t finish it until that last set date you told your client that you will be done. Why does this happen? It’s a big mystery. Maybe our minds and body knows the capabilities of our working potential that allows us to do all the crammed work. Or maybe we work better under pressure and through the adrenaline that something is due soon we get an extra boost in creativity and working power.
A Mystery is Still a Mystery
Thinking of theories of how the mind functions and how humans react is always interesting to me. As a logical person, I always seem to require some sense to why a certain thing happens, or why a certain person said this or that. Otherwise, their statement or feeling seems…invalid.
However, sometimes you just have to deal with it. The world is built on mysteries. You can’t truly know why humans react the way they do, and there’s always not a real definite answer behind their actions. However, one mystery that I do believe in and that’s faith and hope. If you believe in your dreams and pursue your goals, then they will come towards you closer and closer. If you want to be rich, you can be rich. Research the steps, work hard for it, and you’ll see it come in, dollar by dollar. If you want to be a doctor, then you know the rough steps to doing it, so you have to do them and again work hard for it.
To simply put this whole journal entry to a few words
Don’t question, just do.
